WOLVERINES WIN IN OVERTIME

ESCONDIDO CA. There is just bad blood between us." said Wolverine Capt. Kurt Davey after a 4-3 OT win over the rival Bruins Wednesday at the Ice O Plex. The Wolverines win with 4 games to go puts them into the playoffs as the third seed and will most surely face the Stars in the first round.

"They just don't like us and this one could have got out of hand too," said Roge Karma who got into a nasty skirmish with the Bruins best player early in the season when he ran Wolverines goalie Nick Millward. “The guy wanted to kill me and I think he still does.” The next time the teams faced each other back in May the game turned into a bloodbath with multiple player ejections and suspensions on both sides including Millward.

The Bruins got the upper hand early in this game on some Wolverines miscues leading to a breakaway goal, and two goals by one player.

Fortunately, the Wolverines held on tightly - primarily due to the hard work of Chris George who deflected a shot from Davey out of the air past former Wolve goaltender Rob Sadulsky. Karma banged in a rebound early in the third period to make it 3-2 before George scored again from the slot to even the game at 3 apiece.

"I wasn't doing anything special," said George after the game, "just working hard in the corners and around the net." George had 2 goals and an assist on the night.

The overtime period lasted a few minutes when defenseman Mike Brueckmann ended the battle to give the Wolverines a 4-3 win.

"We needed this one." said George. "We need to get on a roll going into the playoffs."
